OBJECTIVES

Tailoring the spectral and dispersive properties of femtosecond laser inscribed fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) in ZBLAN fibers by femtosecond laser post-processing.

TASKS

  • Evaluate the evolution of the DC averaged refractive index change with respect to laser post-processing parameters by tuning the wavelength of an already inscribed FBG, which will be helpful in predicting the possible change in the dispersion properties of CFBGs.
  • Realize nonlinearly chirped-FBGs (CFBGs) from linearly CFBGs by post-processing.
  • Evaluate the effects of the fs post processing on dispersion coefficients of CFBGs integrated in a laser system by directly measuring the temporal characteristics of a laser pulse.
  • Evaluate the evolution of the dispersion coefficients from the changes to the pulse temporal profile.
