OBJECTIVES

The goal of this research mobility project was to make complementary and repeatability experiments on the MIR couplers in BGG and silica glasses, with the aim of consolidating the scientific basis of an article to be published. The project was to use the COPL facilities to write new waveguides in fused silica to enhance the refractive index change without damaging the glass (cracks formation), and repeat the experimental transmission measurement between 2.5 and 4.2 µm.

TASKS

Obtain complementary results on mid-IR couplers.

RESULTS

New fused silica couplers were successfully made in fused silica. Analytical and numerical simulations (Ansys; Lumerical) allowed to support the analysis and interpretation of the experimental results.
